Dispensary opening hours update

Please see our news post dispensary update for more information.

Travel advice

Consult your practice nurse well in advance of your dates of travel. If travelling last minute still contact your nurse as it is better to have some protection than none at all if there are appointments available.

When you contact the surgery explain to the receptionist that you need an appointment with the practice nurse for travel vaccinations. You will be asked to fill in a travel risk assessment form prior to your appointment.

It is advised that you do some research before your appointment:

Most commonly required travel vaccines are free, however there are charges for some less frequently needed e.g. Rabies vaccines.

For travel to a high risk Malaria country, medications are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because Malaria protection is not included in the services provided by the NHS and therefore is a chargeable service.

Travel health questionnaire

To help us offer the appropriate advice, please fill out the online travel risk assessment form before coming to see the nurse.

Travel vaccination

Thinking of travelling at the last minute?

Hoping to book a fantastic deal on the internet ……. or a get a bargain at the travel agents?

We do not have last minute appointments.

You should attend the surgery at least 6 – 8 weeks before departure. Why not even come to discuss your intended travel plans when you book your annual leave?

Travelling in Europe

If you are travelling to Europe, a very useful booklet has been published with advice and guidance to help you get the most out of your holiday.
