Travel Advice

luggage_tagsBefore you travel...

Consult your practice nurse well in advance of your dates of travel.

If travelling last minute still contact your nurse as it is better to have some protection than none at all.

When you contact the surgery explain to the receptionist that you need an appointment with the practice nurse for travel vaccinations. You will be asked to fill in a Travel Risk Assessment Form prior to your appointment.

Severnbank Surgery is a registered Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre and has been authorised by NaTHNaC (as the regulatory body for England, Wales and Northern Ireland), to administer yellow fever in accordance with International Health Regulations (2005). The surgery is able to administer Yellow Fever Vaccinations to patients who are not registered as well as registered patients.

There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below

It is advised that you do some research before your appointment.

Most commonly required travel vaccines are free, however there are charges for some less frequently needed e.g Rabies vaccines.

For travel to a high risk Malaria country medications are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge.  This is because Malaria protection is not included in the services provided by the NHS and therefore is a chargeable service.
